Sharpen Knives Using a Flat Rock
This method is as simple as using some type of rock suitable instead of an expensive sharpening stone. However, the result would certainly be so much better.
However, using a flat stone rock will provide you with the sharp knife you need in a desperate situation.
It’s worth noting that this is a handy technique to have on hand when you’re out hunting or doing some other outdoor activity.
The key requirement for this technique to work is selecting a smooth, flat, and porous rock to use. After that, lubricate it with water as you would do with the most variety of stones, such as sharpening oil stones for a better result.

Sharpen your Knives with a Shovel
In this case, we essentially use the thickened edge of the shovel’s blade as a honing rod. It is worth noting that a stainless steel shovel is preferable to that of an aluminum shovel.
However, a titanium shovel would be the best option. Because of its tough razor-sharp materials.
Step 1: Hold the shovel vertically with your left hand. with the blade aligned at the bottom
Step 2: hold the knife with the dull blade in your dominant hand. And adjust the sharpening angle edge at 10 degrees.
